Annual Christmas Dinner for the Homeless - San Luis Obispo County
PLEASE HELP OUR COUNTY’S HOMELESS
For the past 15 years, the Jewish congregations of San Luis Obispo have come together to provide the community’s homeless with an amazing home cooked dinner and entertainment on Christmas Day. Additionally, thanks to the generosity of our caring Jewish community, each homeless person has left the dinner with their arms laden with care package items such as new: sleeping bags, jackets, sweatshirts, umbrellas, socks, underwear and toiletries. The number of homeless in our county (3,774 in 2011) and nation has reached unprecedented levels with a dramatic increase in the number of homeless families. Our first priority this year is making certain that each homeless person in the county receives a new warm jacket to get them through the wet winter months.
Both the Jewish Community Center of SLO and the United Way of SLO have agreed to act as fiduciary agents. Tax-deductible donations can be made by clicking below (see PayPal button). SLO Camp-n-Pack has once again agreed to purchase these items for us in bulk at reduced rates.
