JCC-Federation of San Luis Obispo presents its annual MCLE program on land use during one of California’s worst droughts.
A range of perspectives will be shared by our panelists, including Carson Britz, Courtney Mellblom and a representative from SLO County. The discussion will be moderated by area attorney, Jacqueline Frederick. Topics will include the county's regulations on land use, land preservation, and agricultural practices.
The discussion will also cover the concept of “Shmita,” happening this Jewish calendar year. During this time, the land is left to lie fallow and all agricultural activity, including plowing, planting, pruning and harvesting, is forbidden by Jewish law.
