The JCC, as part of our Jewish Family Services program, has developed Caring Callers. We are matching volunteers, the Caring Callers, with people who indicated they’d appreciate an occasional conversation by phone from a volunteer.
Something as simple as asking “how are you” or “tell me about your week” can be very beneficial to a person who feels closed off from most activities beyond their front door. It’s the essence of Tikkun Olam! And, of course, if you know of someone who might value such a periodic call from someone in the community, please let us know. There’s a special familiarity when one person reaches out to another, even if they begin as strangers. If you’re interested or want more information, please contact us below! You CAN make a difference! |
