Jewish Family Services has developed a program, Caring Callers. We are matching volunteers, the Caring Callers, with people who indicated they’d appreciate an occasional conversation by phone from a volunteer. Something as simple as asking “how are you” or “tell me about your week” can be very beneficial to a person who feels closed off from most activities beyond their front door. It’s the essence of Tikkun Olam!
And, of course, if you know of someone who might value such a periodic call from someone in the community, please let us know. There’s a special familiarity when one person reaches out to another, even if they begin as strangers. If you’re interested or want more information, please contact us below! You CAN make a difference! |
