Meet our instructor, Annie Yu:
Annie Yu has been cooking Asian dishes since she was a pre-teen, helping her grandmother in the kitchen prepare and cook simple, but tasty Cantonese dishes from southern China. After living in Boston most of her life, she moved to the central coast about ten years ago. With the abundance of fresh produce, locally sourced meats, and the freshest fish available, the Asian dishes she makes taste so much better in the central coast.
Over the years, Annie has taught many Chinese cooking classes at Central Coast Culinary and Catering in San Luis Obispo, as well as in private homes. In December, she was featured in Edible SLO magazine showcasing her dishes for a celebration of Chinese New Year. Currently she is busy offering private cooking parties where she teaches her home-style, tasty dishes at a host’s home.
All ingredients required for the class, as well as lunch will be provided. All participants will receive a packet of the recipes that we’ll be cooking, which includes information about where to get the best ingredients and spices locally, as well as a copy of Edible SLO magazine that highlights Annie and Chinese New Year. A sample of her dishes can be found @sloasiancooking where she snaps pictures of her home-cooked dinners just before enjoying them with her husband.
