Frequently Asked Questions About
the JCC's E-News
1. How do I subscribe to the JCC's newsletter?
Click here. If you have any difficulties, feel free to e-mail us at [email protected] or by phone at 805.426.5465.
2. What is in the newsletter?
JCC-Federation of SLO's weekly newsletter lists upcoming JCC events and programming, events and programming of other local Jewish organizations, relevant local news, and Jewish news and stories from around the globe. We keep members aware of what is happening in the next month or so. Further out into the future, you can view our community calendar.
3. I don't like a lot of clutter in my inbox. How can I stay on top of things?
We understand. If you don't want to receive e-mails from the JCC-Federation of SLO, but still want to know what we have going on, you may view the newsletter through our Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram pages (you do not need to be a member of either site to view those pages). You can always check out the calendar too.
4. I found a mistake in the newsletter. What can I do?
Please let us know. Keep in mind that we have an entirely volunteer staff and we rely on third parties to provide much of the information, so we're only as good as our sources. Our e-mail system allows a limited number of "sends" each month. As a result, the most efficient way for us to update mistakes is on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages. However, we do our best to make sure people get to the right place at the right time.
5. I don't see an event at my synagogue listed. Why not?
Generally speaking, the JCC of SLO's newsletter only lists non-religious programs and events open to the general public. Sometimes the line between religious and non-religious events is hard to draw. We do our best. Also, we may not have heard about it. Let us know so that we can add the program to the community calendar!
6. How do I get an event from my organization listed in your newsletter?
If your organization would like to get an event listed, please go to our Calendar page and select "Submit an Event" with all relevant information. We will review your completed form and either approve or deny the event. If you need help or have questions, please email us here!

If you are interested in regular coverage in the JCC newsletter, please take the following steps:
- (a) Designate a single point of contact for us. That person should have the final word on when things are, what things you want listed, and what things you don't. Also, we will only accept input through that person.
- (b) Submit your list of events for the upcoming week no later than 12:00PM on Thursday.
- (c) If you can provide us with a list of the dates of future events, please let us know that too, and we will add it to the calendar, and to the weekly newsletter.
